Man indicted for attempted assault
A South Dakota man arrested in September for alleged lewd conduct outside an elementary school has been indicted on a charge of attempted sexual assault of an adult.
A Lubbock County grand jury handed down the indictment against Jeremy Pettingell on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Pettingell, 38, was arrested at Dupre Elementary School, 2008 Ave. T, on Sept. 25 after he accosted a woman who was picking up her daughter at school.
According to police reports, his genitals were exposed and he shouted obscenities at the woman.

A man arrested last month in Lubbock as part of a Texas Department of Public Safety drug investigation wound up facing even more charges as a result of that probe.
A Lubbock County grand jury indicted Sergio Zapata, 40, on charges of arson and insurance fraud Tuesday, Jan. 7, along with an accomplice, Alexander Castro, 28.
According to court records, Zapata wrecked his truck, and in examining the wreckage discovered an electronic device he didn’t recognize.
And that made him decide to get rid of the truck.
