A Lubbock County grand jury indicted Tuesday a 19-year-old Lubbock man suspected of escaping from a court-ordered rehabilitation center on theft charges for stealing a vehicle from a previous victim.

Jordan Duran was being held at the Lubbock County Detention Center on two felony counts of theft and failure to leave information. His bond was set at $7,500 for one charge of theft between $20,000 and $100,000.

Duran may also face charges for escaping from the Lubbock County Community Corrections Facility/Residential Treatment Center in April, according to court officials.

Man indicted for fake vehicle sticker

A Lubbock County grand jury indicted a 28-year-old Lubbock man Tuesday for making a fake Texas vehicle registration sticker out of an index card and blue tape.

Juan Morales is being charged with tampering with a government record, a third-degree felony that carries a possible punishment of a prison sentence between two and 10 years and a fine up to $10,000.

Eight people were indicted Wednesday on drug and weapons charges by a federal grand jury in Lubbock.

Natividad Gumaro Lopez-Guzman, 47; Flor Angelica Bustillos, 27; Gregorio Hernandez-Perez, also known as Francisco Hernandez and Primo, 27; Jesus Adrian Murillo-Angulo, also known as Chavalon, 20; Michael Alvarado Garcia, 41; Haylie Nicole Moreno, 25; Edward Adam Rodriguez, 22; and Brianna Lee Mendoza, 22, are charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intention to distribute 500 grams of methamphetamine, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release.

Two men accused of assaulting Lubbock police officers in unrelated cases were indicted Tuesday by a Lubbock County grand jury.

Joseph Conorino, 46, and Epemenio Guzman, 22, are charged with first-degree felony counts of aggravated assault on a public servant.

Conorino was arrested July 31 at his residence in the 2800 block of 39th Street after reportedly threatening to kill a police officer with a firearm then charging him with a wooden club, according to court records.

Lubbock man accused of biting, spitting on police officers among indicted by grand jury

A 30-year-old Lubbock man is accused of biting off more than he could chew during an encounter with Lubbock police officers earlier this month.

Police say Bobby Button bit and spit on three police officers responding to an Aug. 5 disturbance at the McDonald’s at 8011 Slide Road, according to court records.

A Lubbock County grand jury indicted Button for two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant and two counts of harassment of a public servant. Both charges are third-degree felonies.
